Chang Zhu is professor at the Department of Educational Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She is the promotor coordinator of the ALO! project.The research of Chang Zhu covers innovative teaching and learning processes as well as the individual, institutional and cultural variables that affect the adoption of educational innovations, especially in online and blended learning.She is project leader for several international research projects and cooperation projects, including VLIR-UOS projects and Erasmus Mundus projects supported by the European Commission.

Jan Elen is a full professor at the K.U.Leuven, Department of Educational Sciences, Center for Instructional Psychology and Technology and current vice dean Education of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences. For several years he was the head of the educational support office of the K.U.Leuven; He has been for several years the coordinator of the Special Interest Group on Instructional Design of the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction. In addition to introductory courses on learning and instruction, he teaches courses on educational technology and the design of learning environments. He is the current senior editor of Instructional Science.

Katie Goeman holds a PhD in Social Sciences. In November 2009 she was appointed Assistant Professor and Project Leader for educational innovation at the faculty of Economics and Business of the KU Leuven campus Brussels. She coordinates the introduction of innovations in higher business education, and is responsible for carrying out research projects involving the investigation of ICT/media applications for education and training purposes (course and curriculum design, persistence and performance, monitoring). To this end she is affiliated as a researcher with the Centre for Instructional Psychology and Technology at the University of Leuven.

The research of Prof. dr. Koen DePryck focuses on educational change and blended learning in the context of adult education. He is lecturer-in-charge for a course of innovation management at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He is also guest professor and VLIR-UOS core team member at the Anton De Kom Univeristy of Suriname. Koen DePryck has very rich experience in the research field of educational change, blended learning, social inclusion and quality issues in distance education and e-learning, especially in the context of adult education. He is experienced in project management and is project partner in several national and European projects, including TACCLE, TACCLE2, SEE A GAME, SEE, BeE, etc.

Luc De Grez has a PhD in Educational Sciences (UGent, prof. dr. Martin Valcke) and he is Assistant professor in the Faculty of Economics and Business of the KU Leuven Campus Brussels. Luc is a member of the Education Research & Development Center of the Faculty of Economics and Business and of the Centre for Instructional Psychology & Technology of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the KU Leuven.
Luc tries to study and develop the instructional environment (especially by using instructional video) from the social cognitive theoretical point of view. He is intrigued by the role of the four subprocesses of the learning cycle (attention, retention, production and motivation). He is especially interested in the role of motivational concepts like self-efficacy, task value, goal orientation, intrinsic motivation and attribution. Special attention is given to the instruction for online and blended learning.

Lut Lippeveld is principal of CVO De Oranjerie since June 2003. Before that she was active for 20 years in adult education, teacher training (specialization: education legislation, education deontology and education organization), second change education and secondary education, where she thought history and sociology. As a principal Lut has led all projects on distant learning in the center of adult education. As a leader she strongly invested in co-learning with a large team of coordinators. She participated in the development of different programs as, for instance OOV (teacher training for trainers in adult education) and is a specialist in networking to implement it in adult education. Lut managed to get project means to develop blended learning programs for teacher training, childcare and the AAV program, first in it’s kind, in the penal institution of Leuven giving entrance to prisoners to second change education.

Bart Horemans is director of Vocvo (Flemish Support Centre for Adult Education). Vocvo supports 13 Centres for Basic Education and 10 independent Centres for Adult Education (CVO). Furthermore, they are one of the partners in the “Stuurgroep Volwassenenonderwijs” (Steering Group for Adult Education), a partnership of the different pedagogical guidance services for adult education in Flanders. In this project, together with Toll-net, they are responsible for the validation of the research results.

Katrien Bernaerts is project supervisor of Toll-net project since September 2011. Toll-net organizes training courses for teachers in adult education. Previously, Katrien worked for 7 years as teacher and learning coordinator at CVO DTL Herentals and as a teacher at CVO Oranjerie Diest. In 2000, Katrien graduated as a secondary school teacher – Trade – Burotica – Informatica. Afterwards, she followed various professional courses on e-learning at home and abroad.

Yves Blieck holds a Masters degree in Psychology and a teaching degree in behavioral sciences (KU Leuven). He has experience as a lecturer at the department of teacher education KU Leuven and CVO De Oranjerie. He worked as a Scientific Assistant (KU Leuven – E-portfolio for competence development during internships of teacher education), project assistant (KHLeuven – Blended Learning for Lifelong Learners in a Multicampus Context) and as a teacher. Until last year he worked as an inspector in secondary education. He left the inspectorate of Education (Flanders) to work as a researcher in the ALO! project. He is working on WP1 together with Hilde Van Laer.

Hilde Van Laer started working in adult education on August 8, 1988. She worked both in non-formal and formal adult education at different levels: she was a teacher in non-formal education within both basic education (education for low-educated adults) and education for prison inmates, afterwards she moved to formal adult education. In all these sectors, she was active at educational and policy level. Since 2012, Hilde is policy advisor at CVO Antwerpen. Last year, she enjoyed the pleasure to be part of a research team of VUB, doing short-term research on the experiences of adults in adult education. Excellent adult education is one of her major concerns. With a lot of interest and enthusiasm, she will participate in the IWT-research team to develop and validate instruments to monitor the quality of OBL in AE and VET.

After Stijn’s graduation as a Master in educational- and instructional sciences he started a professional life as instructional designer and educational technologist first at the University of Antwerp, later at the KU Leuven. His solicitude lies into the use of educational media and technologies in teaching- and learning practices on course level. Stijn got more experienced in this kind of work through participating in projects (Flanders, Europe and other International projects) aiming for educational innovation. Within the ALO!-project, Stijn will focus on educational and educational technological issues arising at course level in a context with second chance learners.

Ellen Van Twembeke graduated as a Bachelor of Communications Management (2011) and a Master of Communication Sciences (2013). Through professional case studies and internships within the communications departments of federal public services, she became acquainted with topics related to employee training and competence development. During the 2013-2014 academic year she worked as a teaching assistant at the Communications department of the Free University of Brussels (VUB), where she became familiar with training principles in a university context.

Silke is a PhD student at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). In 2011 she graduated as a teacher in primary education. Teaching and learning fascinated her and made her curious for more, so Silke decided to enroll for the program ‘Master in Pedagogical Sciences’. Her big interest in education and enthusiasm for conducting research, are a great mix to complete the team of this project. Within the ALO! Project, the research of Silke focuses on monitoring the quality of online and blended learning (OBL) from the perspective from the adult learners. The characteristics and performance of adult learners in an online and blended learning environment are central factors in her research.

Bram Pynoo obtained a PhD in Psychology in 2012. In his PhD research, he focused on the acceptance and use of technology by independent professionals. In the past years he was head researcher of the MICTIVO-project (Monitoring ICT-Integration in Flemish Education), research coordinator a.i. at the teacher training department of Thomas More University College and project coordinator at the expertisenetwork of the teacher training institutions of the Ghent University Association (ENW AUGent), in which he was responsible for the projects ICT-competences of teacher trainers, and didactics. During the school year 2015-16 he was project coordinator of a collaboration project on didactics between the nine CVO of the GO! with a teacher training.

Bram is leraar secundair onderwijs en informatica binnen het volwassenenonderwijs en heeft gewerkt als lerarenopleider. Verder is Bram ook pedagogisch begeleider binnen het Provinciaal Onderwijs Vlaanderen. Technologie en leren. Hij ziet zichzelf als een inspirator in innovatie en change management.

Kwinten Van Hoecke studeerde in 2008 af als germanist aan de Universiteit Gent. Hij werkte als leraar Nederlands in het secundair onderwijs, maar heeft vooral ervaring in het hoger onderwijs en het volwassenenonderwijs. In het volwassenenonderwijs werkte hij als docent NT2 die een bijzondere interesse voor blended learning ontwikkelde. Vandaag is Kwinten als pedagogisch begeleider NT2 verbonden aan POV (Provinciaal Onderwijs Vlaanderen) en werkt hij in opdracht voor VOCVO (Vlaams Ondersteuningscentrum voor het volwassenenonderwijs) als valoriseringscoördinator van IWT-ALO!.

Ghislain De Bondt is beleidsmedewerker en ICT-coördinator (pedagogisch, technisch, beleidsmatig) in het Centrum voor Basiseducatie Zuid-Oost-Vlaanderen. Daarnaast is hij ook zelfstandig consultant (strictomento.org) wat hem toelaat om andere scholen te ondersteunen op vlak van onderwijsvernieuwing en ICT-beleid.

Peter is leraar volwassenenonderwijs ICT – elektronica, alsook parttime pedagogisch begeleider nieuwe opleidingsprofielen ICT volwassenenonderwijs en STEM. Peter is een kritische leergierige wereldburger met een sterke interesse voor technologie en onderwijs. Hij heeft een brede technische basis en visie op ICT en leren.

Erik Devlies is halftijds bachelor Frans in Brugge, halftijds gedetacheerd bij het leermiddelennetwerk KlasCement en is regelmatig spreker in scholen en op studiedagen, ook voor VOCVO. Vanuit zijn lespraktijk geraakte hij erg geïnteresseerd in de mogelijkheden die ICT biedt op vlak van differentiatie, organisatie en ondersteuning, dat in combinatie met zijn vak en bij uitbreiding vreemdetalenonderwijs. Hij wil mee de leeromgeving op cursusniveau en het kwaliteitskader helpen ontwikkelen. Ook de professionalisering van leerkrachten die met Blended Learning aan de slag willen, is een aandachtspunt.

Sinds 1988 is Kathleen voltijds actief in volwasseneneducatie als leerkracht toegepaste informatica. Het lesgeven over ICT met ICT ervaart ze als uitdagend en om dit te realiseren ontwikkelt ze sinds jaar en dag digitaal leermateriaal voor ‘eigen gebruik’. De ICT domeinen waar ze zich goed in thuis voelt zijn toepassingsgericht en situeren zich voornamelijk in een administratieve context, een educatieve context en het gehele online plaatje: van het web tot in “the cloud”.
In 2003 heeft Kathleen tijdens haar werkopdrachten voor het eerst van dichtbij kennis gemaakt met afstandsleren. Als coördinator werkte ze mee aan de inhoudelijke invulling van leerpaden voor de ICT-cursussen in de office-wereld.

Jeroen Hendrickx werkt momenteel als docent NT2 in CVO Antwerpen. Hij geeft twee modules in gecombineerd onderwijs.

Sedert het schooljaar 1999-2000 is Dirk werkzaam als lector in de specifieke lerarenopleiding en beleidsmedewerker aan het CVO Panta Rhei te Gent. Hij doceert er de modules ‘Onderwijs en maatschappij’, ‘Leraar en verantwoordelijkheden’, alsook tussentijds de modules ‘ICT in het onderwijs’ en ‘Algemene didactiek’. Beleidsmatig stond hij in voor de implementatie van de kwaliteitszorg in het CVO en is thans nog steeds verantwoordelijk voor de inhoudelijke coördinatie van het gecombineerd onderwijs in de opleidingen SVWO, HBO5 en SLO. Gedurende de periode 1999-2011 was Dirk actief als facultair beleidsmedewerker Onderwijskwaliteitszorg aan de Universiteit Gent, met o.m. de aansturing en opvolging van de onderwijsinnovatieprojecten in het kader van blended learning.

Tamara Stojakovic is leerkracht Nederlands en Engels in het Atheneum van Merksem. Ze is erg geïnteresseerd in onderwijsinnovatie, taalverwerving en digitalisering. Tamara gelooft erg in allerlei vormen van samenwerking: schoolintern, schooloverschrijdend, netoverschrijdend en zelfs grensoverschrijdend.

Karen Van de Cruys werkt aan het Groenendaalcollege als leerkracht Nederlands, Engels en ICT. Zij heeft bijzondere interesse in de integratie van ICT in het onderwijs, kennisdeling en professionalisering. Karen heeft expertise in het uitbouwen van leernetwerken en ‘communities of practice’, in het bijzonder via sociale media.

JaapJan heeft een Master Learning and Innovation en werkt als senior adviseur technologie en leren aan het Deltion college NL, SURF (ICT-samenwerkingsorganisatie van het onderwijs en onderzoek in Nederland). In zijn werk zoekt JaapJan naar de meerwaarde van ICT. JaapJan is ontwerper van de DidacTool. Hij is expert in blended learning. Kort gezegd: JaapJan is een wervelwind, guerilla-innovator, drammer, ideeëngenerator en energieleverancier.

Richard is kwaliteitscoördinator ‘leren’ bij SYNTRA Limburg. In die functie ondersteunt en coacht hij de docenten binnen SYNTRA. Hij doet dit geïnspireerd door het credo van Loesje: “Leren doe je met vallen en opstaan, waarom moet ik er dan altijd bij zitten?” Richard houdt zich daarnaast ook bezig met de introductie van “nieuwe” leervormen zoals blended- en e-learning. Hij is schoolontwikkelaar, en fungeert als ondersteuner bij veranderingsprocessen binnen opleidingsorganisaties.
